Description

“Our brains are programmed to always be searching for human faces. Faces are often the first thing that our eyes are drawn to and we even find them in inanimate objects. By removing the faces in my collages, I aim to subvert the notion that humans are always the center of attention. I hope to encourage the viewer to think bigger than themselves and more about the world around them.”

Part of a series of 2 collages in the ‘Conscience’ section of my Senior Art Show.

“Collage is my chosen medium to examine the idea of ‘Conscience’. The effortlessness, comparatively, of artmaking using this media contrasts with the difficulty of the subject matter. These artworks feature animals listed on the IUCN Red List under the categories of Vulnerable, Endangered, or Critically Endangered. I hope to foster greater appreciation for these animals through these pieces, as well as encouraging the viewer to consider how different the world would be if they are to be lost.”
